Education is no longer just a distant dream for Lakshmi! She can go to school again.
6 year old Lakshmi loves reading, writing and drawing pictures. But she was forced to drop-out of school as her family, belonging to the Irula Tribe, kept migrating to different places in search for work. CASA’s team encourages parents in the marginalized villages to send their children to Bridge schools, and that’s how we met Lakshmi. She is now continuing her education with us and inspires us all with her lively smile.
With Bridge Schools, CASA is making education accessible to children who drop out of school because of various reasons. Help us bring smiles to many more faces.

An 11-year-old from Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, her father couldn’t afford to keep her in school, so she had to drop out after completing the fifth grade. It wasn’t an easy decision for her, but she knew that the family needed it.
Scars to Stars: How education liberated these loving sisters
We are excited to be back in school”, says Anusha & Rama cheerfully when they returned to school after 3 years. They both had to drop out of school to support their families. Still having scars on their hands from the jobs they had to do, they are now getting the necessary tools to continue their education with CASA’s Bridge Course Centre. Now, Anusha dreams of becoming a teacher to offer support, while Rama aspires to give back to society as a nurse.
There are many young women who are still trapped by poverty and responsibilities to support their family. Help us bring them back to school!

She had been a dedicated student at our bridge school, where we provided educational support and resources to help bridge the gap between her previous education and mainstream schooling. However, circumstances led her to drop out of school for a period of two years.Her return to school marked a significant milestone in her journey. She faced the transition with a mix of excitement and apprehension, aware of the academic catch-up she needed to make.

Sarika is one of the many women who are being given skill training by CASA. Many young women in rural areas are denied access to quality education, leaving them unequipped with the basic skills they need to pursue a career. We’re empowering these women with training like embroidery, tailoring and fabric painting which help them find employment and break out of the cycle of poverty.

From dropping out of school in 8th standard, to being employed at a dignified job!
Satish, now 21 years old, dropped out of school when he was in 8th grade to support his family. Because he didn’t get proper schooling, he had to work difficult labour jobs to bring food to the table. In Andhra, CASA introduced Computer Training for the youths and school drop-outs, who have no or little access to computer and internet, so that they can participate in the global digital learning.
Equipped with these skills, Satish now works in a respectable job and takes care of him other without resorting to physical labor.
Like Satish, there are many other kids in our training centres who are reclaiming their lives and dignity back with education. Help us make their lives better and be a part of their journey!

Durgavati Devi is overcoming gender and poverty barriers not just for herself, but many more women in her village. She’s changing generations to come!
Durgavati Devi, from a Dalit community in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, has been living in poverty since childhood and wanted to change this. Due to gender bias, women are often confined to household duties and lack awareness of their rights. With determination, she took the opportunity to challenge the situation and with support from CASA, she became a leader of the CBO and organized gender rallies to create awareness of rights. She established a Self-Help Group to increase her family’s income and is now advocating for issues in the community at the district level. This is how she’s changing not just her life, but many other lives in her village.
